Groan. The dialogue with the prison guard already sucks. Hey Iczer, I take it the chat room is gone? |

There a note in the admin account about setting up the new chat room but I haven't had a chance to go through the instructions yet.
Hmm, Sam's all pissy and snot forno apparent reason. Must be luuuuv

Mindless hockey scenes = Filler. There really is a writer's strike. |

That was the choppiest, most uneven wad of dreck.
I liked the hockey scenes for the goofiness that it was but it didn't belong in an ep that was otherwise so heavy. Gates, I hate you too. |

I liked the hockey game for the goofiness as well....and you are right. It was way too light in that the rest of the epi was so very heavy. Reiko Aylesworth
rocks. She handled the scene with the patient's rage so well. But I think she is gone after this. Makes me kind of sad...even though I hated her with
Gates. WHY do I hate everyone with Gates????

Because he's pretty much like looking at a wad of road kill? Once upon a time it might have been a cute critter, now it's just smelly and gross,
taking up space and attracting insects.

I think Julia's gone for good too. Her exit will be mentioned by Gates in a throwaway line and then suddenly the role of the chaplain in the ER will go back to being non-existent. |

Non-existent is better than that hot mess any day. If she was going to use that jumbled faith approach, you'd think she'd have a thicker skin. Dr.
Murder cannot have been the first one to not buy her bologna.

Sam needs an attitude adjustment. Fast. It's actually creepy, the more I see her with Gates, the less I hate Gates. Magical.
The hockey storyline only served to remind me that I love Scott Grimes, no matter what a little twit Morris is. I'd skate pairs with him any day. Other than that, it was pointless. And they need mouthguards. Did Grimes not teach them the rules? Offsides, high sticking, and no goalie is permitted to play without a throat protector. Not to mention that Morris' goal was inside the crease. Come on, now. I could keep counting here. Julia sucks at life. A parrot could do a better job of giving advice and warmth. And probably has a thicker skin. She should pray for a spine. The mother was a lousy actor. The guard was great, though. Good storyline. |

Oh, and...
I've been working with Amnesty International in response to the death penalty issue in "Atonement." As part of the campaign, AI is encouraging people to write letters to the editor (newspaper, TV Guide, People, anything and everything) about the death penalty in America. Here's a sample letter, which you can feel free to tweak and send in: SAMPLE LETTER FOR RESPONSE TO ER EPISODE: Dear editor, Last night on ER, the story focused on a doctor who had participated in lethal injection executions and was overwhelmed with guilt. This reminded me of the Supreme Court hearing earlier this month, where the question of whether or not lethal injection is cruel and unusual punishment was discussed. I realize that ER is fiction, but the fact of doctor participation in executions in this country is all too real. Doctors should definitely not be participating in executions. They are supposed to save lives, not take them. In fact, not just doctors, but all the health professions (anesthesiologists, nurses, EMTs, etc.) have specific positions against participating in executions. Health professionals can express their opposition to being asked to take part in executions by signing Amnesty International's Declaration on the Participation of Health Personnel in the Death Penalty, which is on their website at: www.amnestyusa.org/abolish . Sincerely, (Your Name) Additionally, there will be an event in the SoCal area in February, including a re-screeing of the episode and some guest speakers (TBA). I'll keep you all posted.

Can't exchange dialog without ADR if they have mouth guards in.

TV show.
Doctors can't wear their hair loose and dragging into open wounds on patients either. No, no mention of Abby. |

Does anyone know the name of the actor playing the prison doctor? I know I've seen him in a million character roles, but I can't put my finger on any
one of them. I thought he did a good job with what he was given.
If the network wanted a light-hearted hockey game for strike-filler, just air "Slap Shot." (And I can't resist: Sam and Gates are a match made in H-E-double-hockey-sticks. Sorry.) Am I the only one who thinks Gates's bad Luka-do is a wig? The part looks stitched and the hairline is too straight and dense. Anyhow, he should just hang it up because it doesn't work on him, makes the lower part of his face look soft and jowly. (Or, to paraphrase Cranky Recapper and a former USVP: I have seen the original Shampoo Boy and you, sir, are NO Shampoo Boy. And, uh, can anyone explain the final tub scene to me? Are we supposed to believe everyone is blase about finding naked co-workers doing the deed in the therapy baths? Where is the Health Dept when you really need them? And why did Doug and Luka both have to hide in the storage closests when we get to see Harold's man boobs every week? As you can see, this episodes left me with many questions, though perhaps the biggest is Why Do I Bother Anymore? A long hiatus might do everybody good. |

The doctor was played by Jonathan Banks. He's probably best known for his role in the old TV series "Wiseguy," but he's been in a zillion
movies. I always remember him best as the cop killed near the beginning of the Nick Nolte/Eddie Murphy movie "48 Hours" because he had a real
memorable line about his wife being "mean as a snake."

This episode made it clearer than ever to me that, other than the Luka/Abby/Joe story, there is nothing and nobody left in this show that I really give a damn
about. I like Neela/Parminder all right, and I respect the talents of MP and SG even though I don't have much love for their characters. But back in the
day, if the episode was Luka-light, I could still work up some interest in what was going on in Kerry's life, or some issue raised by a patient of the
week. Now...meh. If only TPTB had hired someone other than Stamos and given me a reason to care about them.

I agree with you completely LE, but given the 18-49 ratings posted at medialifemagazine.com (below), this underwhelming drama is likely to drag on for some
time.
At 10 p.m. NBC led again with a 3.5 for "ER," marking its second straight timeslot win against original competition on the other networks. CBS was again in second with a 3.3 for a new "Trace." ABC was third with a 1.8 for "Big Shots" and Univision fourth with a 1.4 for "Amas de Casa Desperadas." |

So...I guess I'm the only one who actually liked this? Ok, so there are no decent storylines being written, apart from the Luka/Abby stuff but that's
mostly because they came all this way and people - not many, though - are waiting for a resolution. But I still like the show, mostly because I got to know the
characters and I've been watching it for so long now. I know it's time to pull the plug but I think I'm going to feel bad when the last episode
airs...if that's going to happen.
The hot tub scene was unbeliavable and Harold was just too much. But I enjoyed the little continuity with Neela when Morris said she used to work at the Jumbo Mart. I am oblivious to any storyline Gates or/and Sam might have but I quite liked the last scene and I can pretend it wasn't them, just two other characters. |

Gates should watch himself; the last man Sam planted one on didn't emerge from the experience exactly unscathed.
