Not to mention, some people are watching only because it's "the last season" and they want to see how it all turns out. I think the numbers would
shrink if yet another season were added.

I agree that it's all a question of money. If artistic integrity were the issue, they could have wrapped things up when the licensing agreement ran out at
the end of S7. (BTW I started watching again during that season because there were rumors it would be the last.)
If I had to put my own money down, I would bet on no S16 but possibly an expanded order for this season. Maybe the usual 22 episodes, instead of the 19 originally reported, or a couple of two-hour episodes for the finale, as Wells hinted in some interview. |

Casting Call for Ep. 16... (does anyone else want to tear their hair out?)
[KELLY] Sam's (Linda Cardellini) sister. SEE ATTACHED PHOTO. She is 25 years old - attractive, funky, bubbly, extroverted, makes friends in a heartbeat. Smart, but not a great student. Never finished college, but has a passion for fashion design and after many years of struggle, it looks like she's hit the big time. Her career will take her around the world, away from Dallas, where she cares for her Mom who's frail, in assisted living. She shows up in Sam's life with a plan to move Mom to Chicago so Sam can pitch in with her care. This doesn't go over well, since Mom kicked Sam out of the house 15 years ago when she was pregnant - and they haven't spoken a word since. Kelly and Sam haven't been close either - they've interacted only once or twice in the past 15 years so there is a lot of work that needs to be done if these sisters are to re-connect...Six (6) scenes in episode 16. sptv050769 Plus more Eps TBD |

No more family members! It's the last season...why do that to the last few remaining fans?! Well, unless it's one of the Kovac boys (given the
circumstances I'd be willing to see a full episode dedicated to Niko watching Oprah, rather than the scenes above).
In character development terms...this seems like the last resort - kinda like Sam and Gates. Sort of..."So, she already has a kid, a relationship and a few problems. What do we do now?!" "Oh, I know! Let's bring her hot sister, maybe make her fool around with Gates a bit. That's interesting T.V.". That being said, while I was never the Sam fan, it doesn't seem right for a character that's been there for the past five years to be written on the run, without having at least a blurry image of how her story should end. And that's not good T.V. |

Not that I would expect continuity or anything, but is this frail Mom in Dallas the same one who was shacked up with some Don Juan when Gramma came to visit?
And since Gramma looked pretty spry, how about she stays with Mom? And is this Mom who kicked Sam out of the house when she got pregnant at 15 any relation to
the parents Sam told Abby about--the ones who wouldn't let her go out of the house while she was pregnant because they were so ashamed? And why do TPTB
just keep teasing me with the big question: how did a 15-yr-old manage to support herself and an infant and finish h.s. and college, including a rigorous RN
program, all on her lonesome?
But then, again, there is continuity: Mom is obviously Maggie/Susan's Mom, operating under a new alias, and Eric/Chloe/Kelly's bubbly-polar disease is TBD. You know, I'm actually tired of bashing Sam. It's like shooting fish in a barrel. And LC has always seemed likeable and professional in her interviews, as well as turning in a very sweet performance in Brokeback Mountain, so it's a shame she got stuck with this nonsense. Couldn't the writers just give Sam some fatal disease and an OTT death scene so we could all forgive her and cry for her and never have to deal with her dumb story again? |

And given that gramma was spry, wouldn't the mom be a little young for assisted living? Early onset Alzheimers? Didn't Sam mention that her mom had
been in jail?
I guess Sam could have moved in with grandma or some other relatives. Grandma didn't seem like she would have been embarrassed, so I'm going with fundamentalist Christian great aunt and uncle. |

I'll tear some hair out, I have lots of hair, I can spare it.
Has Sam ever once mentioned a sister? I know she mentioned a cousin on one of her flits with Alex, but a sister? And yes, her mother had been to gaol. Perhaps she went from hale to frail in gaol and got bail.

Oh gads.......ANOTHER relative?? They have never been consistent with Sam's history. Sheesh. WHY can' t they just let her finish something she has
started and move on with it? Transport training...anethesioligist training??? Hello??? I have been SO loving more time in the ER with PATIENTS. And
besides...the new intern with the wife on the phone was MUCH more interesting in terms of family. Let's see some of HIS drama.

So apparently (and I only know this from being online and bored, I don't read this crap normally), the tabs are reporting that PN is preggers, but that it
won't be written into "ER" - something about big lab coats and gurneys (riiiiiiight...) Not that I'm buying it, because tabs are also
reporting that Angelina and Jen have reconciled and are both pregnant with something like eight babies, but if it's true, I do hope to god that it
doesn't turn into some (pardon the pun) ratings gimmick when Neela becomes pregnant and we're all left to wonder if it's Brenner's, Ray's,
Dubenko's, or the next messiah. Gah. Apparently no word from PN's camp, so I'm not holding my breath, but just in case, let's all pray that
every male on "ER" is very sterile.
Just to reiterate for my own sanity - I DON'T READ TABS. |

Well...if she IS, given her physical stature it will be pretty hard to hide so they may HAVE to write it in....which will signal an end to any reconciliation
with Ray. The ONLY one she has been seen shagging of late has been Brenner. But given the writers' disposition to maintaining continuity, an
abduction/impregnation may be in order. (Dang but I have been DYING to use that
smiley!!)
And as for the multiple birth/pregnancy fan fics.......the Luby ones tend to have Abby and Luka crawling with kids as well. Sometimes one loses patience in reading them.....sigh. |

ER has hidden pregnancy before (I forget the name of the pedeatric surgeon Carter was shagging, but she was 7-8 months pregnant during that arc.) If ER is
still scheduled to end in February, filming will be done before PN gets too big.
Although I do like the alien abdcution storyline... |

More on the Sam's Sister...ick...
Question: What's cookin' on the ER front? -- Gary Ausiello: A sister for Linda Cardellini's Sam! Her estranged (and yet to be cast) sib turns up later this season to deliver some horrific news. This Gary fellow ought to know that the answer is "nothing interesting." |

Is it wrong to be disappointed that Parminder's pregnancy (if she really is pregnant) isn't going to be written in? Considering that the jogging part
was the only physical activity she and Ray shared...
And Sam's sister...please go away. |
