As long as we never see Maggie or Chloe or Rac-hell again, I'm cool with whoever they want to bring from the past.

Look, I don't mind that Carter's back, but this plot is ridiculous. He's embarrassed because...?? It's a health issue, for Pete's sake.
Second, in front of whom? Frank? And hey, pluuuuze. He's still a millionaire. He doesn't need to go to County or Northwestern to get proper care.

How about Maggie comes looking for Abby at County, runs into Chaz's father, and they both awkwardly realize that they slept together on another show? Fun
times.

Now we're getting somewhere. Can they work in an explanation of why Abby and Denny-the-Undead on GA have the same Dad? I'd like to get all the loose ends tied up before the series finale. I agree w/LE that Carter's fragile kidney will be an excuse for him to remain in Chicago. I would not be surprised if he and Kem are separated if not divorced. Typical ER marriage.

Well, given that Abby was looking behind rather morosely from the car window as it pulled away, I would have thought those ashes had begun stirring at the end
of 'The Book of Abby.' As much as I would like to see Maura Tierney on ER again, I am hoping Abby stays AWAY...and happy....in Boston.

AP: Julianna Margulies:
Julianna Margulies says she won't be back at 'ER' NEW YORK (AP) - The final "ER" season is bringing back some of its original stars for guest shots, but Julianna Margulies won't be among them. She was invited, she says, but declined. Margulies, who played nurse Carol Hathaway on the NBC hospital drama from its 1994 premiere, exited after six seasons. Her character left Chicago's County General for Seattle, settling down with Dr. Doug Ross, who had been played by George Clooney. "I feel like I left Carol Hathaway in the best scenario possible," Margulies said Saturday, laying to rest speculation about her return. "I can't imagine making it any better than that." In the farewell lap of its 15-season run, "ER" last week featured Anthony Edwards reprising his role of Dr. Mark Greene. NBC has announced upcoming appearances by fellow alums Noah Wyle and Eriq La Salle, who will also direct an episode. Still a mystery is whether Clooney, yet another charter cast-member, will be back. He left in 1999. Margulies, 42, departed from the Los Angeles-based series in 2000 despite a reported offer of $27 million to stay for three more seasons. She expressed a wish to return home to New York and pursue other projects. She then, she has appeared in a number of films and TV shows, including a memorable guest role as a real estate agent with a heroin habit on "The Sopranos." Last spring she starred in the short-lived Fox legal drama "Canterbury's Law." Margulies lives in Manhattan with attorney husband Keith Lieberthal and their son Kieran, who was born in January. She recently finished shooting "City Island," a comedy that also stars Andy Garcia, Alan Arkin and Emily Mortimer. **************************************************************************************************** Hey, tptb, why don't you show her and bring Doug back as a widower? He could fall in love with Neela. |

bring Doug back as a widower? He could fall in love with Neela Now you're talking. How hypocritical of JM to fish for ER related publicity all the while insisting she's done with the show. She's beginning to sound like the jilted girlfriend who keeps calling up her ex just tell him she's over him. BTW I don't know if anyone else tried watching Canterbury's Law (which I did because I do think JM is a skillful actress even if she's a painful diva) but the lead character had a tragic dead child backstory much like Banfield's. Except JM's tv husband finally left her and her show was cancelled. Hmmmm. |

I guess this upsets many fans, but I don't think I can say how relieved I am.Clooney can morph himself into Doug as many times as he wishes now!

As much as I hate Carter now I know that I wont be watching but for different reasons.
I think is good that theres some continuity (hes dealing still with some aftermath of the stabbing) however the theme of only one kidney working and not at 100% is hitting too close to home so I can't watch. I deal with it every day with my baby nephew whom I live with who is now 11 months and is a miracle accordign to doctors that hes still alive. God Bless him. SO I wonder.... Carter dies , everybody comes together for the Funeral???? just a thought |

Just want to note that I called the surrogate mother storyline a few weeks ago. Bassett and Vance had twins with a surrogate IRL, I believe. |

I expect a relative to do it either.

From Zap2it.com:
Yo, any dirt on ER? -Phillip Uh, yeah. I'm hearing that NBC execs are seriously considering a 16th season, though they've touted this year as the final curtain for quite some time now. Insiders tell me the Peacock net is hoping to keep County General open for business, as ER continues to win its time slot each week. Word is, the suits and creatives are meeting in an effort to work something out. Thoughts? |

Oh man.....and people wonder why stars leave. Nothing like being strung along...... Let it die a peaceful death people. It may be winning it's time slot
but its straggling in the depths when it comes to new stories and interesting characters. Everything is just a redeux......

Are the execs seriously that inept that they don't realize that even diehard fans want "ER" to be put out of its misery?

It's all about the money. How much do you suppose it cost NBC to produce "My Own Worst Enemy", touted as this seasons' Heroes and already cancelled? Or to give a second season to "Lipstick Jungle" which is barely drawing 3 million viewers and is still being allowed to run off all the episodes already filmed, because they have jack to replace it? Developing a new show is expensive, and NBC already has too many holes to fill. I don't know what they are paying Stamos and Basset, but I'd be willing to bet it adds up to less than what the Peacock shelled out for Christian Slater and Brooke Shields. And the actors' salaries are always the least of the development costs. Sad to say, ER is still one of NBC's few cash cows. |

It may be all about the money, but there's something to be said for letting the most Emmy-nominated show in history go out with what few shreds of dignity
it still has.
