And it's funny that i wasn't even thinking about who was in the ambulance (probably because i knew who was) i was much more concerned about Abby walking past. The earlier scene in the car, i really liked. All season 14 they have been making a point of showing the rings all the time, and here very deliberately again, starting with Luka's hand on the wheel which he then tilts over to hide it, then shot switched to Abby's hand. The paper gift was very 'sweet'. Nice. and Dubenko rescuing his barbie doll from the fish tank, too. |

I'm trying to forget the horror of seeing Neela and Brenner by remembering the cutest thing in this episode (besides happy Pratt) - and that is when Abby
asks what happened to Joe's knee, and the twin playing Joe looked right down at his knee like "My knee?". Too cute!
I'm still pulling for Neela and Dubenko together. Gallant wasn't a rebel like Tony, etc., and she married him. So maybe I still have some hope? |

I actually liked the episode more than I expected to - the reconciliation wasn't nearly as bad as I'd feared. It played out very nicely. I LOVED
Luka's rambling, muddled metaphor and that Abby could understand what he was attempting to say. The whole thing was sweet. I can actually get on board with
this ending for them.
WRT Pratt, MAN but that sucks that he had to go out on such a good day. Abby's line about the missing Lexapro and him choosing her as the one who might be in a good mood was well-played, but still...better to go out on a high note, I suppose. Sam and Gates wierd me out - it seems a bit like JS and LC aren't sure what mood their characters are supposed to be in. Neela needs to grow up and quit boinking sleazeballs, and Dubenko...well, all I could think of was "No, YOU'RE out of order! This whole hospital is out of order!" Good episode to cap off a season that's been not so great. I feel bad for all the unspoiled people - my friend called as soon as it ended, demanding answers. *muahaha* |

When the only character I liked in all his scenes is Morris I think there's a problem...
As for Luka coming back...it could go either way but it wasn't like they showed him turning around at the sound of the explosion. He could be long gone and honestly, I don't think he needs another scare. Better to find out after all's done and from Abby herself.

I'm going to kill the SO. I called him from work to tell him I was going to be late and to be sure to record the episode for me. I got home about 15
minutes into it, and when I tried to replay it, found he'd recorded one of those damned serial killer documentaries on MSNBC instead.
Can anybody recap the first Luka/Abby scene for me? What was the paper present? |

The paper present was a newspaper - she gave it to him as he dropped her off at County, explaining that it was traditional for the first anniversary. It was
rather sweet, without being overdramatic. He reminded her [something to do with cars that I didn't understand] and that was it. Cue looks of sadness and
regret on either end.

Btw, did anyone else notice that the random guy in the ambulance bay that Pratt was looking at - who we can assume rigged the ambulance - looked a LOT like
Bono?

Wasn't he one of the regular EMTs on the show? Didn't notice the resemblance, thought.
I wonder how the unspoiled felt about this episode. The setup for Pratt seemed obvious- everything was going right in his life (Chazz, Bettina, work, friends) and I loved how he called Luka his mentor and the talk with Abby. All three of them have great chemistry (I'd say that it's because the actors have been on the show longer but I don't feel the same with Sam) and they managed to develop a very nice friendship (since they pretty much killed the one between Abby and Neela - which used to be great as well). And - did the hairstylist go on a vacation when they filmed this one? Except for PN (and MP during a few shots), everyone looked...not that great. |

He said check the brakes pads. I like the eppy ,very satisfied with LUBY, got the impression this thoughts of reconciliation have been coming on for a long time, I did not get that Luka suddenly decided that day to forgive and forget but that he had been struggling on how and when. When she said I missed you guys I got the impression they had spend time together even though he knew nothing of the car. Good call Aimee! you had said he will offer her a ride. I want to see LUka at the end of 15.03 but I am ok if hes not, they did the best they could for LUBY in the short time they had allowed themselves to work a reconciliation ( im talking about the writers) I thought it was sweet too, not charming, MT spoiled everyone when she said teh writers wont kill me. |

I hate Comcast. It keeps randomly bumping shows from my schedule and it bumped ER last night. I would like to give someone a good Luka punch. The download has

I haven't checked in with Carbyland but I can't help but wonder what sort of spin they could possibly put on "Do you know that I love you more
than I could possibly explain?"

No, No, No to Neela and Brenner!! I know it's been said many times here, but I just had to react to my worst nightmare coming true.
Overall, this was a little like the 300th ep for me: some good moments, but too much going on for any one storyline to take hold and build to excitement. And yes, as I expected, they took Pratt out on the best day of his life! For those who missed the first quarter of the show, let's not fail to mention the long, long, long account of Sam's childhood infatuation with Elmo the Muppet. And how it leads Gates to presume their relationship is getting serious?!? In contrast, Luka's final profound insight into the fallacy of his old assumption about "happy marriage"--that it's something you achieve, like a trophy on a shelf, rather than a fluid experience which has to be shaped day to day--that got a single sentence! WRT Luka's exit, Goran had reason to be happy (as he appeared to be in the online interview) with the acting opportunities and scene partners he got. I was reminded why I think he's as talented as he is good looking (even on a bad hair day). He can show a range of emotion--from menacing anger to misty sensitivity--with discipline and restraint. (Matthew Fox, please take notes!) And his scenes with Holbrook and Tucci worked far better than they had any right to, given the forced writing. (As for punching Moretti--fugettaboutit--It was a t.v. punch--Moretti popped up immediately, clearly unhurt and they both made ironic cracks.) But, really, the writers should not get away with cramming so much character and story development into a few message-laden speeches: Walter, Moretti, Luka, all had to "stand and deliver" like Western Union and the actors earned every penny they got paid for pulling it off. The final Luby scene was sweet, the kiss was convincing, and at long, long last Abby said what she needed to say all along (on camera, for those of us who didn't fantasize it on their own): "I love you more than anything." Because if you can't say that, you don't have a marriage. If I had not been spoiled, I would not have known what happened in the final explosion. I actually thought that was a different, parked ambulance at first! |

Abby just said the words. Loud and clear and simple, without "Joe needs a father" or anything like that, while Luka admitted that what they have is worth fighting for and it's not about his ideal marriage but about them both. I'm terribly biased but I fail to see the settling factor. |

I wonder now and then what it would have been like if the writers had known in s12, or even early in s13, that there would be a massive strike and that GV
would exit a year before MT. Methinks things would have gone differently.
ITA that they packed way too much into this episode, if only for the unlikely coincidences - Moretti shows up the same day as the paper gift; Walter leaves unexpectedly; Abby walks behind an ambulance that just happens to be from County while in a completely different part of town (what gets me is that the section of Michigan Ave they showed is nowhere near the hospital...or any hospital). I'd have preffered it spread across a few more episodes. But hey...for an hour long show, I give them credit for having pulled it with some semblance of reality. Oh, and momentator, it was Ernie, not Elmo. Had it been Elmo, there would be a furry friend no longer welcome in my home. |

I'm terribly biased but I fail to see the settling factor.
There is none He talked about hope, and moving on past this, to keep going. He finally realized marriage is not an abstract ideal, just because life is good and perfect today doesnt mean it will be tomorrow. Marriage is a day to day project. He saw in Abby ( only he has seen that) a person who has hope, she saw in him the same. They quit the first time around because they did not think they had that ideal relationship, it never occurred to them to sit down and see if they were willing to cross through teh muddy waters together. I think Moretti and Walter were there to remind him that the hes not the only one whos had crap trown over his marriage but you can pull through. as for Joe , of course hes part of the equation , luka was clearly miserable after a weekend alone with joe becaue hes about family, he needs his wife, you can tell he missed his family , Joe is also a reminder that he has a beautiful family that came together out of love and worth fighting for. And this time Carter cant have her, or Moretti. That been said, Joe is not the reason they got back together. He can have Joe all week if he wants but he needs Joes mother.

While waiting in the hospital bay the EMT says, yeah this isn't my usual rig, the mechanic said there was something wrong with mine. So the bad guys wired
up one ambulance and then made sure that one went on the run to transport Buscemi. The bumper sticker was to ensure we know that the one that blew up is the
one with Buscemi in it.
Unspoiled, the Carby lovers would be speculating that Carter got killed at the same moment somewhere in the world and that he and Abby are being reunited in heaven. |
